How long have you been in business?
Over half a century! 53 years now.
What is your primary product or service?
We provide top notch moving and storage services for local, long distance, interstate and international relocations for both residential and business/company customers. Tradeshows,and specialty products distribution as well.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
In the boom years during the fifties we filled a niche for quality service at affordable rates and it was a way to put food on the table while serving the hard working people in the area. Having served in the ARMY in logistics and procurement this expertise allowed me to at first run my own rig, build a reputation for excellence and then evolve to running my own agency.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Our mix of "old fashioned values" such as integrity, reliability, professionalism, and a genuine apprecitation of our customers, combined with the very best of modern Hi-tech systems provide the best of both worlds to our customers. We never forget that it is because of our customers that we get to provide for our families and prosper! A lot of businesses seem to forget this fact nowadays. Moving is stressful and we try to minimize this through a personal and knowlegeable service and a genuine appreciation of our customers needs. Being another run of the mill mover with a "take a number and stand in line attitude" towards our customers has never been,is not now, nor will ever be, part of our business model. We know our customers work hard for their money and belongings and we are not afraid to do the same for them.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We are currently one of the only movers who are locally headquartered and Van Line affiliated. While we are always looking to expand, our affiliation with ATLAS Van Lines provides us an immediate presence in practically every part of the globe with a network of over 400 top quality moving companies world wide!

We are easily found on the east side of S Dort Hwy. 1/2mile South of Bristol Rd and North of Maple Rd. This is approximately 3 miles south of I-69 and about 1.5 miles east of I-475. We are flanked by longtime Flint landmarks Chemco pool chemical store just to the north of us and Southmoor Golf course and put-put directly across the street.
What type of payments do you accept?
Typically Cash, most Credit Cards, Money orders or Cashiers checks are all acceptable. It depends on the type of service local or long distance and we'll work with our customers to work out payment details.
Which areas do you service?
While headquartered in Genesee County, we are capable of world wide service. Just about anywhere in the Free World!
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
David Markley, a Veteran of the Gulf war, and his wife Becky are the driving force of Ray's Moving and Storage.
What are your hours of operation?
It seems at times we run 24/7, but in general our office hours are 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. Other times available by appointment.
